Before I share what are my 5 steps for improving your business, you first need to remove your emotional investment to the business. Consider your business as though it was a friend's business that has the same struggles your business does. Remove your ownership bias and take ownership of the problems, not the solutions you already chose.
Here is my 5 steps process when consulting for any business
Understand: take the time to thoroughly understand the business, its challenges, and goals from a non-biased opinion. Show no favouritism.
Identify: identify the key issues and opportunities that can impact the success. If you're the hero in the day to day business running, identify again.
Propose: Based on above insights, propose practical and tailored solutions to address the needs with your current systems or if they can't meet your needs look for more up to date systems that will.
Implement: work closely with your internal team to implement these solutions effectively and efficiently. Your team needs to run without you, so they need to have ownership or when you step away, they will revert back to what they want. Make them owners to this change.
Monitor: After implementation, continue to monitor progress, check in with staff to ensure everything is on track and make adjustments as needed.
